Mmm … Monadnock!

I wrote about maple syrup at the beginning of the month, when I wasn’t sure how the season would go. Since then, we’ve had weeks of more snow and more cold, and very few good sap run days. Many of the area maple makers are dismayed by how little sap they are getting, and wondering if we will even get Big Sap before the trees bud. What if spring suddenly springs in full force, without days of warm days and cool nights?

Who do you get your local maple syrup from? What kind of season are they having? Have you ever tapped your own trees? What’s your favorite maple syrup recipe? Do you like light or dark syrup?

I’m trying to compile a Resource List that I can put up on this site. I’m trying to figure out a way to turn it into a wiki, that we can all add to. Any programmers or designers out there that would volunteer to help Frank design it? He can do all of the programming, he says, but would like some help on how it should look. Then, like all wikis, all of us localvores in this region would be able to add to it, not just me or any one person.
